Medicine Hat holds
claim to the world's largest teepee.
Purchased after
the 1988 Olympics in Calgary,
Saamis Teepee
now sits as a monument to our Native People.
The
teepee
was the
home of the Plains Indians. It was moored to
the ground with pegs that could readily be
dismantled and transported.
This form of home could quickly be taken down when
the Plains Indians such as the Lakota and
Blackfoot moved to follow the buffalo.
