Medicine Hat is a
commercial, manufacturing and transportation
center located on the South Saskatchewan river.
The community developed when the Canadian Pacific
Railway arrived in the area in 1883.
Medicine Hat
is situated in an agriculture and natural gas
producing region. It began in 1904 and
incorporated as a city in 1906.
The name of
the city is likely derived from the story of a
Cree medicine man who lost his headdress while
feeing across the river. |
